Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 17, 2026 · Effective: May 17, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Pawslate ("Pawslate", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Pawslate iOS application (the "App") and the related website at pawslate-web (together, the "Service").

Pawslate is operated by Pierre Ilyamukuru, an independent developer based in Ohio, United States. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Data we collect

Account information

When you sign in with Apple, we receive a unique Apple user identifier and — if you choose to share it — your name and email address (or Apple's private relay email). We use this to authenticate you and to keep your data tied to your account.

Pet and health information

Pawslate is built to store information about your pets, which you provide. This may include:

You are not required to provide any of this information. The more you provide, the more useful Pawslate becomes — but it remains your data and your choice.

Subscription information

If you purchase a Pawslate Pro subscription, we receive confirmation from Apple and from RevenueCat (our subscription management provider) that your subscription is active. We do not receive your full credit card details — those are handled entirely by Apple.

Technical information

We may receive limited technical information automatically, such as your device type, iOS version, App version, anonymous device identifiers, and crash reports. This helps us diagnose issues and improve the App. We do not use this information to track you across other apps or websites.

3. How we use your data

We use the information we collect to:

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your pet records or symptom descriptions to train AI models or for any advertising purpose.

4. Third-party services

To run Pawslate, we use a small number of carefully chosen third-party processors. Each one only receives the data necessary for their specific role.

Apple

Apple handles your Sign in with Apple authentication, App Store transactions, and subscription billing. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

Google Firebase (Google LLC)

We use Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Storage, and Cloud Functions to store and sync your pet records and photos. Data is stored on Google's secure servers, primarily in the United States. See Firebase's Privacy Information.

OpenAI

When you use the AI Symptom Triage feature, the symptom description you write is sent to OpenAI's API for processing. We send only the text you've entered and a generic instruction prompt — no account identifier, no email, no pet identifiers. OpenAI processes the request and returns a structured response. Per OpenAI's API data usage policy, this data is not used to train OpenAI's models. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy and their API Data Usage Policy.

RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and entitlements. RevenueCat receives your anonymous app user ID and your transaction status from Apple. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

5. Data retention

We keep your pet records, photos, and account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete a specific record (a vaccination, an appointment, a pet) within the App, that record is permanently deleted within a short period.

If you delete your account from within the App (Profile → Delete Account), we permanently delete your account information, all your pet records, and all photos within 30 days. Some technical logs (such as anonymized crash reports) may be retained for up to 90 days for diagnostic purposes.

6. Your rights and choices

You have the following rights regarding your data:

If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or the CCPA — including the right to request a copy of your data in a portable format and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below.

7. Security

We protect your data in transit using TLS encryption, and Firebase encrypts data at rest on its servers. Access to production systems is limited to those who need it to operate the Service.

That said, no online service is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you use the Service at your own discretion. If we become aware of a security incident affecting your data, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

8. International data transfers

Pawslate is operated from the United States, and Firebase servers are located primarily in the United States. If you access Pawslate from outside the U.S., your data will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

9. Children's privacy

Pawslate is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will provide additional notice through the App or by email where appropriate.
